WHY VERTEX EXCHANGE
Keep sculpting. Keep your Maya setup.
No repetitive setup
Skip the manual export, import, renaming, matching, and rebuilding steps that interrupt sculpting.
Update, don’t replace
Bring vertex changes back onto the existing Maya object while keeping its identity and downstream setup intact.
See before changing
Named groups, explicit pairings, checkboxes, and previews keep Multi Mesh operations understandable.
THE WORKFLOW
A predictable round trip.
01 / SEND
Export from Maya
Send one mesh quickly, or create a named group and choose the exact meshes to exchange.
02 / SCULPT
Work in ZBrush
Import the active transfer, sculpt freely while preserving topology, and export the paired result.
03 / UPDATE
Return to Maya
Preview the target and update the existing object—or deliberately import a separate new mesh.

Maya history and material preservation
Simple when you want it. Structured when you need it.
SINGLE MESH
Fast everyday exchange
Export, sculpt, and update one active mesh with the minimum possible interruption.
MULTI MESH
Explicit pairing and control
Create named groups, send selected meshes, review pairings, and choose exactly which Maya objects will update.
COMPATIBILITY
Built and tested for a focused setup.
- Windows only
- Autodesk Maya 2024 and 2026
- ZBrush 2026.1 or newer
BETA LIMITATIONS
Topology must remain compatible.
Updates require matching topology, connectivity, vertex count, and compatible vertex order. Topology-changing operations can make an update invalid. Save both projects before the first exchange and evaluate the beta on recoverable copies.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you exchange.
Does it replace the Maya object?
No. Update modifies compatible vertex positions on the existing object. Import is available separately when you intentionally want a new object.
Can I change topology in ZBrush?
Not when you intend to update an existing Maya mesh. Use Import as New when the result should become a separate object.
Is this production-ready?
This is prerelease beta software. It has automated and focused integration coverage, but has not been validated against every production scene or configuration. Begin with saved, recoverable copies.
What happens if an update is unsafe?
Vertex Exchange refuses identifiable incompatible or unsupported targets and explains the reason instead of silently redirecting the update.
